School Life

We follow the term dates set out by Wiltshire Council in order to maximise parental convenience. Pupils attend Wellington Primary Academy from Monday to Friday. The school doors open at 8.30am in order to allow children to chat to their class teachers and prepare for the day ahead. The bell to begin registration rings at 8.45am.

Pupils in the EYFS and Key Stage 1 finish school at 3.30pm, with pupils in Key Stage 2 finishing at 4.30pm from Tuesday to Thursday.  The extra hour for Key Stage 2 pupils is unique to the area and is used to deliver the very best leadership, service, sporting and cultural activities through our Golden Eagle programme.

House Buddy System

In order to foster teambuilding and a feeling of belonging, pupils at Wellington Primary Academy are placed into a ‘House’ system named after military Captains from the Battle of Waterloo.

They are:

    • Anglesey
    • Combermere
    • Harding
    • Picton

Siblings are always placed together and each pupil takes responsibility for their own role within their House. A competition is run each term with pupils awarded points for academic performance, effort or conduct and able to gain points in sporting, musical or artistic activities. The winning House is awarded an end of term treat. The system aims to encourage excellent behavior and pride within the school community.
