Curriculum

Wellington Primary Academy follows the guidelines set out in both the National Curriculum and the Statutory Regulations for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

The National Curriculum sets out the essential knowledge that young people should understand and this will be the minimum that our children learn. The National Curriculum provides freedom for teachers to decide how to teach most effectively, allowing us to design a curriculum that will best meet the needs of our pupils. Our children also experience lessons in mindfulness and philosophy.

The Wellington Family strongly believe that it is important for all pupils to participate in extra-curricular activities such as sport skills, dance, drama, athletics, tennis and competitive games. We encourage the pursuit of excellence! Key Stage 2 students will receive one hour of physical activity every day in the form of PE, games or Golden Eagle activities. Specialist coaches or PE teachers will deliver our additional sporting activities as well as the PE curriculum. Our children are expected to have their PE kit and outdoor clothing in school every day. All of our Key Stage 2 children will experience swimming lessons during the academic year.
