6M Teacher: Miss Mclaren
Teaching Assistant: Mrs Nacolawa
This week Year 6 students drank 'blood' smoothies! They learnt about the components of blood and their functions and came up with lots of fantastic questions.
Last week Year 6 had their own election to vote for new house captains. The candidates said their speeches and then each member of the house made a vote.
After a busy week of Maths, Writing and Topic work Year 6 were able to relax (a little!!) outside with Year 5 for an afternoon of PE. Year 5 lead the session creating different circuits for the Year 6 children. This finished off with learning about pacing ourselves by jogging around the school field trying not to walk. Hopefully we will do some more afternoons with other classes throughout the year. 🙂
In Art, we have been exploring and comparing Swedish artists and the children used charcoal and sketching pencils to recreate some of John Bauer's illustrations.
This week Year 6 had some special visitors from the Academy. Three children from Year 7 (previous Year 6 pupils) came to visit and discuss life at the Academy. Many questions were asked by Year 6 and of course answered extremely well by the Year 7s. Year 6 can now look forward to starting at the Academy in September 2020.
