World Book Day 2017

We were delighted to celebrate world book day with our own 'dahlicious dress up day'. The children all looked brilliant and we had a marvelous time learning about Roald Dahl and his life. The children took part in lots of fun learning activities, including learning to illustrate in the style of Quintin Blake; re- writing some of Dahls work, and drama.read more


TWA Letter

It has come to my attention that some concerns have been raised, via a public social media forum, by a small group of parents about bullying and perceptions of how bullying it is being addressed by the Academy.

Over the last couple of years, we have increased and improved our pastoral care and students’ perceptions of how we deal with bullying has significantly improved. This has also been confirmed by external visitors and inspectors. It is therefore disappointing to know that a minority of our parents still feel we are not adequately dealing with the issue.read more


Dahl Dress up Day

As you are aware, next Thursday is World Book Day and we are celebrating the work of Roald Dahl. We would be delighted for your child to take part and celebrate this terms author by dressing up as their favourite character although we do understand that it may be inconvenient to find a suitable costume. It might be worth noting that Roald Dahl also wrote Revolting Rhymes which features all of the traditional fairy tale characters. Of course, if you have a suitable world book day costume at home that you would prefer to use then please go ahead. The most important aspect is that the children have a great day and can can celebrate their love of reading.


Weird and Wonderful - Topic launch

The learning theme for Term 4 and 5 is.... Weird and Wonderful and who better to help us with this then Roald Dahl. Each class is studying a book by Roald Dahl to support and guide their learning and we are can't wait to learn more. Children in Kites class have been reading George's Marvellous Medicine and started to learn about Florence Nightingale.


Sports for Schools

On Wednesday 15th March, we will be welcoming the Sports for Schools Team and Olympic Swimmer Cassie Patten to our school! The morning's event will include the sponsored fitness circuit and an assembly with a question and answer session with Cassie. This is a whole school event so everyone will participate and get to meet her.read more


Year 5 and 6 Residential Trip to France

Children in year 5 and 6 visited France last week for their annual residential experience. The children stayed in a 17th Century Chateau, in the small town of Rue. They had an amazing time visiting the local area they took part in many exciting tips including: a visit to the Somme, a battlefield Museum, a Town Tour and learned how to make French Pastries in a bakery.read more

New Head Appointed

We are delighted to be able to announce that, after a rigorous selection process, Mrs Helen Donnelly has been appointed as Head of Wellington Primary Academy from September 2017. Mrs Donnelly is currently Head of Hampshire Collegiate Prep School which is part of United Learning Trust. She has had a career working in both state and independent schools and was herself a child from a military family, giving her a unique set of skills and experiences for the post. We are very pleased that she has agreed to join our group of schools. There will be an opportunity for parents/carers to meet Mrs Donnelly later in the year.› read more

On Friday 11th November some of our pupils attended the Remembrance Service at the Wellington Academy where they laid a cross and read a piece on Remembrance. All pupils were impeccably behaved. At Sunday's Remembrance service at the new war memorial site one of our Year 6 pupils proudly laid a wreath.› read more


Bedtime Story

On Thursday 10th November pupils enjoyed an evening of story telling and activities with bedtime stories. Thank you to everyone who joined us, we raised £43 from the sale of hot drinks and biscuits for the PTA fund.› read more


Halloween Disco

On Friday 4th November the PTA held a Halloween disco for the pupils. Children dressed up in some fantastic costumes and everyone had a great time. Thank you to the PTA for organising a fantastic night of fun and dancing. We raised an amazing £283.40 from this event.› read more

Bedtime Stories

Football Festival

On 2nd November, Year 5/6 entered a football festival held at Avon Valley College. 27 teams took part in the tournament. The team managed to reach the quarter finals and played fantastically, showing excellent skill and teamwork, despite having very limited practice! Well done!› read more

Year 6 Assembly

Year 6 pupils took part in their first class assembly on Thursday 6th October. The children planned and wrote the script as part of their learning, they performed Lewis Carroll's the Jabberwocky and some interpretive dance. They did a brilliant job and we are looking forward to the next one. › read more

Harvest Collection

Harvest is about sharing from the good things we have in order to create a fairer world. To celebrate Harvest every pupil and member of staff is invited to give towards the Salisbury Foodbank Harvest Collection. The Foodbank is a charity that provides up to 3 days worth of emergency food for people in need. Items need to be bought into school and given to a class teacher by Monday 10th October. Tim Peak Space Seeds: Red or Blue?

The answer is revealed in this video. The Children in Year 5 have been investigating two packs of seeds. They have been looking at the rates of growth and any differences between the two seedlings. They have thoroughly enjoyed measuring the plants and making predictions on which packet went to space. We predicted it was the seeds from the blue packet, but were we right? Falcons Start the 'Adopt a School Project'

The pupils in Falcons class were thrilled to start their new project today, with no other than our very own school chef, Keith. The children learnt all about food hygiene, the healthy plate and how our taste buds work. They even got to sample some unusual flavours and treats, including bright green jelly that actually tasted like strawberries. They are looking forward to their next session, where they will learn how to chop food safely like a professional.› read more


Queen's 90th Birthday Celebration Fête

What an amazing afternoon of celebrations at our Queen's 90th Birthday fête. Luckily the weather held off and everyone was able to enjoy the many activities on offer. The bouncy castle was a hit for the children while some of the adults enjoyed the bungee run. Candy floss, popcorn and ice cream were popular along with the ice cream van. You could try your hand at the tombola, play your cards right plus other activities whilst browsing the stalls. The afternoon was rounded off by a Maypole dance and fantastic mini disco from Disco Dion. A big thank you to everyone who turned out to support us and everyone for their help on the day.› read more


Road to Rio Challenge

We're so excited about the Olympics this summer, we've decided to travel there! We're trying to clock up a mighty 5,889 miles between us all to reach the distance from here to Rio. This means that each pupil and staff member in KS2 will have to clock up 70 miles each! This is a mammoth task but we're confident we can give it a good go! With 7 weeks left until the end of term, we are asking everyone to complete 10 miles per week. Children can clock up miles by taking part in any physical activity, including walking to school and playing at lunch time. A letter will follow shortly to explain how your child can earn miles!› read more


Going for Gold

Children in Key Stage 2 have had an exciting start to the term by beginning the first of many challenges they will be set as part of their Olympic Project 'Going for Gold'. Each class has been allocated a country to represent and this morning they were set the task of designing an anthem or song to represent their country; they only had an hour to complete the challenge!› read more

Coffee Morning

Coffee morning every Monday during term time, 9-10.30am.Open to all parents/carers in Tidworth of children from birth to end of primary school age. Small charge of 50p per family to include tea, coffee or juice and biscuits. Also available are bacon or sausage sandwiches for £1. Dr Who Writing Competition Winner

Congratulations to Aodhan Franklin for winning the Dr Who writing competition. The top prize was a box set DVD signed by the real Dr Who - Peter Capaldi! New Head of Governance Appointed

Katie Paxton-Doggett has been appointed as Head of Governance at Wellington College Academy Trust. Katie is a Governance Specialist who is qualified as a Solicitor and Chartered Company Secretary. She has significant experience of issues facing Academies and Multi-Academies particularly relating to corporate governance and the role of the Board of Trustees.› read more


Golden Eagle Pathfinders Club

Golden Eagle Pathfinders club pupils have been visiting the woods by the school. Pathfinders leader, Colin Stevens said, "During the session the Pathfinders listened and observed the woods around them and then named the things they had noticed. This ranged from the different tree shapes and leaves to the rich leafy soil under foot. They then split up to make shelters and homes for our mini Welly man. Various designs were created, some with rich thick carpets or well insulated roofs while others had natural decorations and a garden".› read more


Fruit Stall

Sports Sparrows club have been looking at how to promote healthy eating and snacks in school. They decided to set up the ‘Tutti Frutti Snack Shack’ which will be open to Key Stage 2 children during Friday break times in the Food Technology kitchen downstairs. They will be selling fruit kebabs, which will include different delicious fruits every week for the children to buy at just 50p each. They opened on Friday 18th March, so don't forget to bring in your money every week!› read more


Hockey Tournament

On Wednesday 16th March a team of Year 5/6 children attended a hockey tournament held at the Wellington Academy. The team played mini games against 8 other local primary schools and came 2nd, a fantastic achievement! This means the team have qualified to enter the final stage of the tournament, meeting finalists from other clusters of primary schools. Well done and good luck for next week!› read more


Year 5 Going for Goals Football Tournament

On Friday 11th March a team of Year 5 pupils went to Durrington Leisure Centre to take part in a football tournament against local primary schools. The children played a total of 10 matches during the course of the whole day, showing excellent skill and sportsmanship.› read more


Parent Workshops

Choir Club

As a part of our Golden Eagle program, some children in Key Stage 2 have started choir club. The children will be learning a wide range of both modern and classic songs to perform. They have been learning to harmonize and include actions into their performance. At the moment, they are learning 'Sing' by Gary Barlow and are doing a brilliant job! Year 6 Chemistry Session at Wellington College

Year 6 pupils enjoyed their chemistry session at Wellington College. They wrote secret messages to each other using a special solution. The messages could only be read once the paper was set on fire! They then watched in awe as a vast amount of orange ping pong balls were sent flying into the air after a very, loud bang! Science is fantastic!› read more
